Konfabulator/Yahoo Widget Engine is the programming equivalent of a crayon drawing made by a Kindergartner. Except these crayons are only ugly colors, you know, the ones that were all icky green or yet another brown. The ones you threw at people or ate (don’t judge). If it were possible, I would molest Yahoo Widget Engine’s children just to destroy it’s life. I hate it that much.
Why I hate the Yahoo Widget Engine:
- JavaScript engine that sucks balls – its all hacked together; no DOM, all object attributes are plain text and are eval’ed as JavaScript.
- Requires voodoo magic to make the XML parse correctly and get the correct ownership relationships between objects.
- Everything is an image, and just placed magically (no html, no CSS, no buttons, no controls, no anything, except a metric shit-tonne of suck).
- Took 3 hours to make a translator app update text as you type it (worth it in the end, but too much work)
- The stupid face you make when it doesn’t work, but magically works after you reload it 3 times
- The only available widgets are for really stupid and individualized purposes, like “This widget queries MattySucksBalls.com to get the current number of balls Matty has sucked today.”
If it wasn’t 4am this would be funnier. Time for sleep.
